Given legs,
Adira was never promised what type of legs she would have. Her legs are scrawny and look like they were severed from each other. They can hardly support her weight, let alone transport to her freedom. It's very hard to flirt when you can't walk straight. Two days earlier she tried to save a man while he flailed in the water, and she, by some effort, managed to push him onto the beach. Unfortunately, she gets trapped in a fisherman's net as a result.
Adira had no desire to peruse this man into his world. She preferred the water. But an ancient feud between the sea witch and her father caused her to grow legs.
Adira, trapped in the fisherman's net, was forced into an ultimatum. The humans who captured her would recognize the creature she was and imprison her. Mermaids were not magical to them; they were pests who released the fish from their grasp. Swimming under her like a phantom, the witch with her swirling grey hair tempts her, saying she can save her. The witch will give her legs and the fishermen will have captured an innocent, harmless girl. But the witch warns her, the only way to undo the spell and return to the ocean is by the power of a kiss from the prince she saved. If she can not extract this kiss in the next month, she will be banished to live on the land forever.
Adira helplessly agrees.
But how could anyone love a cripple?
(P.S. If I ever wrote this storyline. She wouldn't end up with the prince. He's supposed to be a pig and remain a pig.)
