Gratuitous Romance: Dedicated to Steph

Taeris glanced around the corridor, her skin tingling under the tension in the cramped space. Tears streamed down her face like burning acid. Anger punctured her chest like a sharp arrow and the wound festered with the memories of grudges and forgotten comebacks. He was there, she knew. He couldn't resist. Her small frame was no challenge to him to overcome. Her muscles twitched in anticipation as her hand slid down her trousers, reaching for the cold medal that would even the odds.
No people. No light to see by. Just an empty ally. Everything would be done in secret and then be forgotten. Life would live again.
"So?" A voice called out. Yuki swaggered out of the mist, his slim build and blue eyes reeked of unexpressed pride. With one eyebrow raised, he continued to approach. Seeing Taeris's determined expression and stance, he stopped and raised his hands. "You'll never see."
"Shut up." She spat the words.
"I'm just stating the facts, Tay."
"What do you know about facts you asshole. You lie. You always lie. Even standing there you're lying. " Taeris pointed the gun at his chest. "I know you're afraid. You're standing there with that smirk of yours, but you're dead scared. Cause even you are scared of dying."
"I don't know about that." Yuki's forehead crinkled in thought as he ran his fingers through his hair. Taeris was staring at him with the furry of satan in her eyes and he could feel the power of her glare straight to his heart. "I am scared of a lot of things, though."
Taeris's lips straightened into a tight, thin line of determination. "You did it. I know you did."
"I did you a favor." Yuki stepped closer and closer to Taeris, taunting her to act, praying she didn't.
"He was my husband. I loved him."
"Maybe. He didn't love you." He now stood directly in front of her.
"Shut up!" Taeris screamed, thrusting the gun against the skin of his forehead.
"You sound like a man, Tay." Yuki laughed softly, "Just listen..."
"No, you killed him! I saw you. That musky morning on the banks. I saw you. I saw you." Her voice shook with emotion that could have vibrated the concrete wall behind them.
"Yes, you saw me!" Yuki's words suddenly burst out from frustration and anger. "You saw me shoot the man that raped your own sister, the man who beat you and gave you that crooked nose and scares! The man who I had to watch everyday tear to pieces everything that was perfect. Because no one believed me. So shoot me, Tay. Shoot me! Shoot me for giving you your life back and caring!" His hands grasped the weapon, as he stared into her eyes. Her hands quivered as she stared back, her mouth gaping.
"Shoot me," he whispered.
Taeris couldn't move, her muscles felt like stone and puddy at the same time. Confusion swelled her brain and made her vision foggy.
Yuki's eye's softened. He shoved the gun aside and it fell with a click on the ground. Slowly he moved closer; instinctively she moved farther away. The wall of the ally stopped her. She was forced to looked up. Tenderness and concern replaced the pride and condescension she had once read in his hard features. Yuki read her surprise and his lips turned into a familiar smirk.
"You know me. You're right. So," He stroked the white scar on her cheek with his finger; she flinched, but didn't move away, "Will you believe me if I said I love you?" Moments seemed to pass as both tried to collect their nervous thoughts.
Taeris shook her head violently, "Liar... You couldn't...You didn't... I mean, honestly there isn't..." Yuki grabbed her chin and pressed his mouth onto hers. Her eyes went wide, and then relaxed and closed.
