Random Writing 3

Marie stood silently and as uneasily as a stone statue. Music wafted towards her from the outpost. Fiddles, hands clapping, and the twinkle of piano keys all joined together in a gentle melody.
"I don't want to dance," she muttered to the indifferent air.
Her limbs wanted to collapse beneath her. Most people lost their husbands in the military; she had done that and one better. He was a Revenant, a monster, with a decaying brain that once held memories of her. A flash of sorrow burdened her eyes, but she didn't cry. Two days ago he had stood by her. Two days ago there was a chance of a cure. Two days ago the gashes on her arms proved otherwise.
She took a step towards the fire and an image of Adrian leaning down beside her was a a vivid picture. His overgrown hair hung loosely over his eyes, their misty green shade glimmered in the light of the flames. Marie stood silently staring. His firm hand pulled her up to him like it had so many times before to make her forget their most recent argument.
"I'm sorry," He said to her hair, his hand resting on her stomach.
"Your always sorry." Marie whispered the rebuke with more feeling than reprimand. Adrian smiled a goofy smile down at her and pulled her closer into his arms. He readjusted his grip and moved his forearm to be around her back and his fingers intertwined with hers.
"You don't dance." Marie protested.
"I never said I would succeed." He answered softly. She laughed gently and closed her eyes, resting her head again his chest.
When she opened them, the image was gone and she dancing with the air.

(OK. To those who don't know, this is from the story Tertial which Steph and I began to write awhile ago but then stopped. We then tried to rewrite it, but stopped that as well. SO Ceres is Marie. That was one of the changes we made. And Adrian is still Adrian except he was in the military. They were always going to end up getting married, and this is a scene after Adrian dies. I just thought I would share. This is something I wrote last year for it and I liked it enough to put it up ^.^)

  1. It's very cruel of you to marry them and then kill Adrian. Very cruel indeed.

I like the descriptions in this a lot. And the little bit of dialogue too :D
